Bonnie Choy joined Blazek & Vetterling in 2004 after spending four years with Grant Thornton and Arthur Andersen in their Houston audit services departments where she advanced to audit manager and was responsible for overseeing the audits of clients in a variety of industries.
Her clients include private schools, churches, arts organizations, social service agencies, and also overseeing governmental audits requiring federal and state compliance with Government Auditing Standards. Bonnie is involved in sub-committees and inspections of engagement files to increase overall audit efficiencies and effectiveness, and to ensure the firm’s system of quality control meets the peer review standards.
Her specialization in nonprofit organizations has brought her significant experience with issues affecting nonprofit organizations and the financial reporting and compliance requirements faced by these organizations.

Aashna joined Blazek & Vetterling in 2025, bringing with her diverse experience in public accounting and auditing services. Her clients include governmental entities and nonprofit organizations, including social service agencies, foundations and schools.
She began her public accounting career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, serving in both Houston and Madrid, Spain offices. There, she focused on audits of for-profit entities, including several major oil and gas companies. Aashna later joined Carr, Riggs and Ingram, LLC where she spent over seven years, including three years as an audit manager. She specialized in financial statement audits, information technology general controls testing, federal and state single audits of governmental entities, including cities and school districts, community colleges, as well as nonprofit organizations.
Her additional areas of expertise include audits of proprietary schools and compliance attestation engagements of third-party servicers administering Title IV federal student aid programs. Aashna has also presented webinars on single audit topics and is well versed in compliance and audit requirements established by federal and state granting agencies.

Responsibilities
Prepare federal and state returns for exempt organizations, including summarization of financial information
Communicate clearly and efficiently with clients and IRS.
Research relevant topics and questions to provide follow-up reports.
Work with a team to help manage client engagements from start to finish, including planning, executing, and completing tax projects while effectively controlling time and expenses
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting
CPA certificate or intent to seek certificate
Excellent oral and written communication skills
2 – 7 years of experience in public accounting tax practice preparing tax Forms including but not limited to 1040, 1041, 1120, 1065, 990, and 990-PF.
Advanced understanding of accrual basis and cash basis of accounting including preparation of journal entries and compilations of balance sheet and income statements
Ability to organize multiple engagements and projects, identify and resolve barriers, prioritize, and meet deadlines, including providing status updates on upcoming deadlines.
Ability to analyze financial information, interpret tax rules, and work efficiently
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
Desired Qualifications
