Tax Accounting Manager

Responsibilities

  • Review and/or prepare federal and state returns for exempt organizations.
  • Build new and existing client relationships and demonstrate knowledge of client’s affairs.
  • Assist clients with challenging tax compliance issues.
  • Prepare internal memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, and other documents for distribution to clients.
  • Manage multiple clients, budgets, and production goals.
  • Provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients in key tax-exempt areas.
  • Excellent communication, documentation and analytical skills, and ability to work both independently and on a team.
  • Plan and schedule engagements with clients and firm resources to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Perform detailed and timely reviews of tax workpapers and provision calculations completed by associates.
  • Ability to mentor and develop staff

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Five or more years of tax experience serving high net worth individuals, trusts, or business clients.
  • Positions with tax exempt organizations are desirable, but not essential.
  • Tax research capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, accounting, and financial planning concepts.
  • Ability to master tax rules applicable to non-profits
  • Effective time management skills for meeting due dates
  • Experience mentoring and supervising staff
  • Proficiency in use computers and computer accounting software programs
