Senior Auditor

The Senior Auditor oversees the day-to-day supervision of the audit engagement, ensuring the audit is completed in accordance with the audit plan and quality standards. The Senior Auditor is afforded the opportunity to undertake more challenging assignments, communicating issues with the engagement manager and client management and drafting financial statement and governance communications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; 3.0 or higher GPA in Accounting and Math courses
  • Three to five years audit experience in public accounting
  • Well-rounded knowledge of accounting principles; knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Government Auditing Standards (GAS Yellow Book)
  • Proficiency in use computers and computer accounting software programs
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Either hold a current and valid certified public accountant’s license or is working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the Texas CPA exam
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills
  • Good time management and organizations skills
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Identifies potential management letter comments
  • Research accounting issues
  • Recognizes potential problem area in specific engagements and discusses them with engagement supervisor/manager
  • Review work performed by staff and provide constructive feedback
  • Drafts annual financial statements, including footnote disclosures
  • Assigning tasks to audit team members
  • Proactively interact with key client’s management to gather information, resolve problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements
  • Planning and designing audit engagement
